Sebastian Gomes '07 SOT '11 proclaimed the first reading at the inaugural Mass of Pope Francis I on March 19. It is estimated that his reading was watched by a crowd of 250,000 and millions more at home.

Gomes, a producer at Salt + Light Catholic Media Foundation in Toronto, Canada, found out that he was chosen to do the first reading the day before the Mass. He was nervous, but honored. "I didn't feel nervous once I started reading," said Gomes. "I think that was God carrying me through."
