Three Finalists Named for Next SJU President

On March 16 and 17 the Presidential Selection Committee met with the applicants for the position of SJU President.  It was a pleasure to interview these candidates.  It was clear that they have a deep commitment to the well being of Saint John's University, as well as the College of Saint Benedict and the whole of Saint John's.

The Committee determined that three candidates should advance to the second stage of the process: Fr. Timothy Backous, OSB, Headmaster of Saint John's Preparatory School; Br. Dennis Beach, OSB, Associate Professor of Philosophy; and Fr. Robert Koopmann, OSB, Professor of Music and Fine Arts Division Head. 

The next stage of the selection process will include interviews and public forums with the Board of Regents, Saint John's Cabinet, faculty, staff, students and alumni.  Members of the campus community will be invited to provide written feedback to the Selection Committee about each of the candidates.  The Saint John's President's Office is working on scheduling these dates and there should be public announcements about them very soon. 

We are very pleased that we continue to be on track to make a recommendation that the Board of Regents could act on at their meeting on May 18, 2009.  Thank you for your ongoing interest and support.
