Star Tribune Talks with Dan McKeon '99 about TrekNorth High School
April 1, 2009
TrekNorth, a charter high school in Bemidji, Minn., has a different way of preparing students for life after graduation. They incorporate three areas in the students' overall education: classes, with a push for AP (Advanced Placement) classes, community service, and outdoor adventures. A requirement for graduation is that students must complete a high adventure, which could be anything from hiking in Washington to paddling in the Boundary Waters.
Dan McKeon '99 is the executive director for TrekNorth. He believes in the school's philosophy, saying "Wilderness trips are a catalyst for integrity, confidence and leadership in kids." View Star Tribune Article.
