SJU Graduates Second Largest Class

The 2009 SJU graduating class included 420 undergraduate men and 29 School of Theology ·Seminary graduates. When combined with CSB's 511 graduates, this year's combined undergraduate graduating class of 931 is the second-largest class ever.
Sharon Daloz Parks, director of Leadership for the New Commons at the Whidbey Institute, delivered the commencement address and received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. Saint John's Abbey and University presented its Pax Christi Award to the Rev. John P. Foley, SJ, executive chairman of the Cristo Rey Network. Joe Kane '09, a political science major from Golden Valley, Minn., was the student commencement speaker.
