Reinhart Receives Posthumous Awards at Saint John's Day

More than 700 donors and friends gathered at Saint John's Day on April 17 to honor the late president emeritus Br. Dietrich Reinhart, OSB, with three posthumous awards, and to recognize benefactors.

Reinhart received an honorary doctorate from Saint John's University, presented by Jim Frey '78, Chair of the Board of Regents, and an honorary doctorate from the University of St. Thomas, presented by Fr. Dennis Dease, President.  Reinhart was also honored with the Fr. Walter Reger Distinguished Alumnus Award, presented to Abbot John Klassen, OSB by Tom Hokr '72, president of the Alumni Association Board (pictured). Accepting the awards on behalf of Br. Dietrich were his sister, Sue Reinhart, his niece, Jayne McGarrity and Abbot John Klassen.

A musical tribute by George Maurer '88 and his ensemble was complemented by a photo montage by Br. Simon-Hoà Phan, OSB.  Tributes were also presented by Dr. Evan Maurer, director emeritus, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, S. Colman O'Connell, president emeritus, College of Saint Benedict and Frank Ladner '48.
