Cunningham '05 Bags Mount Everest
May 31, 2009

On Thursday, May 21st, 2009, Nic Cunningham '05 footed the famous "Hillary Step" en route to the peak of Mount Everest. At 5:30 a.m., Cunningham staked his claim to the top of the world (29,029 ft.), just in time for a once-in-a-lifetime sunrise. "After I got above the step, the sun began its delicate dance over the clouds and the mountains below and the rest is history," said Cunningham.
The climb completes "Peak Bagger" Cunningham's quest to climb the Seven Summits-the highest mountains on each of the seven continents.
Reflecting upon the trek, Cunningham says, "It was the most perfect summit push I could have asked for. Everything went flawlessly and without a hitch. My Seven Summits are complete, I've climbed Mt. Everest, and I couldn't ask for anything else!"
