Community Center Dedicated in Honor of Tom McKeown '52

Alumni and friends were on hand Sept. 12 for the dedication of a new community center in honor of Tom McKeown '52. SJU expects its sustainable design to be the first LEED-certified building on campus. The 7,500 sq. ft. community center is a gathering space primarily designed for residents of the Flynntown apartments.
McKeown's family made a gift for the center in his honor. McKeown remarked, "My children's generosity and Saint John's honoring me here today are matched by my own profound gratitude for the lifelong learning and inspiration that I have received from St John's and the Benedictine community."
