Alumni Give Back this Holiday Season
November 30, 2009
The holiday season has traditionally become a time when Johnnies give back. This year, some Johnnies have come together in new ways to share the spirit of the season.
Since graduating from Saint John's, Craig Steele '95 and his wife, Nikki '96, have gathered with a core group of friends to celebrate the holidays. This year, the group decided to give their party a deeper purpose. They are dedicating their celebration on December 11 to Common Hope, a nonprofit that focuses on education in Guatemala. Renato Westby '95, a classmate of Steele's, is a native of Guatemala and project development manager of at Common Hope.
The Young Alum Committees of Saint John's and Saint Ben's, made up of alumni who have graduated in the last 10 years, have united this holiday season to spread cheer to children in need. The two groups will collect toys both on the campuses and at Target stores throughout the Twin Cities metro area to donate to Toys for Tots. Watch for them on the KARE 11 news at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19.
