The Alumni Association welcomed the Class of 2009 into its ranks at the annual Senior Banquet on April 15. The evening began with mass followed by a social and dinner. Each student table included an alumnus who welcomed the seniors as the newest members of the Saint John's Alumni Association.

SJU head football coach, John Gagliardi, was a keynote speaker and shared advice about life and risk-taking, complemented by his timeless humor. Interim president, Dan Whalen '70, also addressed students, and taught lessons about leadership and taking responsibility for one's own destiny.

Other key events of the evening included the announcing the Senior Gift Campaign as the most successful ever, and the naming of Joe Kane as the student commencement speaker.

The event was the ninth annual semi-formal Banquet held for seniors.
