A group of Nordic skiers at the start of a race on a snowy field. Some athletes are in red, white, and blue suits, while others wear dark-colored gear. Spectators and officials watch from the background, near an outdoor sports structure.

For anyone passionate about Nordic skiing, the Saint John’s University club team is truly a dream come true.

With over 20 kilometers of groomed classic and skate ski trails running throughout the 2,500-acres of the Saint John’s Arboretum, and a group of supportive and motivated teammates ready to push you onward, this is a place where you can take pride in your sport and in your studies.

The club strives to promote Nordic skiing and foster a competitive athletic spirit amongst members. Head coach Ion Senchea provides training plans for skiing, core, weights and any other winter or summer areas of focus. Those plans are tailored toward an athlete’s reasons for being part of the team and helping them achieve their individual goals.

In 2023, the team was scheduled to host the Langlauf Ski Race in Collegeville while competing at other prestigious events such as the Three Rivers Ski Rennet in Bloomington, Minnesota, the City of Lakes Loppet Winter Festival in Minneapolis and the  Hayward Lions Pre-Birkie and Slumberland American Birkebeiner in Hayward, Wisconsin.

Practices start the first week of November and the season runs through the end of February.
