Puerto Rico Service Immersion Program

Saint John's University Campus Ministry invites SJU students to be part of a meaningful and exciting service opportunity with the Benedictine Monastic community of Abadía de San Antonio Abad in Humacao, Puerto Rico.  This intentional service immersion experience gives six SJU students the opportunity to engage with victims of Hurricane Maria.  Students will embark on this service immersion opportunity over Spring Break, with the hope of gaining awareness in the Benedictine notions of service and justice, will create room for dialogue and learning, and foster a passion for community.

This program is funded by a generous donor who is committed to providing meaningful opportunities for undergraduate students at CSBSJU to engage in service and justice programming.  The cost per student will be $400.  $100 will be due one week within acceptance to the trip, the remaining $300 will be due prior to departure to Puerto Rico.  Scholarship opportunities will be available for students upon request.

Students who are accepted into this program will be required to attend four (4) weekly meetings on pertinent topics, such as:  faith-sharing, social justice, trip preparation, etc.

Applications are now closed.
