Prison Ministry

“… I was in prison and you visited me” (Matthew 25:36b)

Prison Ministry is an outreach program of Saint John’s University Campus Ministry with a long history that is committed to respecting the dignity of all life. We visit the inmates of the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud with a caring presence as Christian women and men, who are worthy of our time, hospitality, encouragement, respect, and prayer.

Each Monday from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, students from CSBSJU join inmates in prayer through the celebration of Mass and a small period of socializing. We are building a team of committed volunteers to help with hospitality, cantoring, and being a friendly, hope-filled face.

  • You must be available for Wednesday, September 26th at 5:30 P.M. in Quad 360.
  • GO: Visit 4x per semester (approximately 1x per month)
  • REFLECT: attend 2 reflections per semester (hosted by Saint John’s Campus Ministry)
  • ACT: Pray Regularly for the inmates with whom you come in contact. Pray for their families. Pray for systemic and racial justice. Pray for an end to the death penalty.

* If you have already served with the Prison Ministry Program in the past, you are not required to apply, but must apply an abbreviated training session, beginning at 5:30 P.M. on Wednesday, September 26th in Quad 360.
