Theology on Tap

TOT is an event held several times per semester at 7:00 p.m. in Br. Willie's Pub, where students can gather to hear a faculty, student, or qualified professional speak on real-world topics related to theology.

This is one of our most beloved, well attended events throughout the year, so don't miss out!

If you have a topic or speaker suggestion for a future Theology on Tap, contact SJU Campus Ministry at [email protected] or 320-363-2790.

Stay on the lookout for Thelogy on Tap once a month on Thursday evening!  Follow us on social media @SJUfaith!

“Depression and Discipleship: A Conversation about Mental Health and Faith”

SJUfaith presents the first “Theology on Tap” of the semester, September 29, 2022 at 8:00PM in Br. Willie’s Pub, a podcast-style conversation with Jessica Coblentz, PhD assistant professor of Religious Studies and Theology at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, whose research and teaching focuses on Catholic systematic theology, feminist theologies, and mental health in theological perspective. Dr. Coblentz’ recent book, Dust in the Blood: A Theology of Life with Depression (Liturgical Press, 2022) offers groundbreaking ways of understanding mental health in a context of faith.

Dr. Coblentz will be joined by Dr. Mike Ewing of the CSB and SJU Well-Being Center, Bernie Donlon, M.T.S. Candidate at Saint John’s School of Theology, and Evan Mattson, SJU ’24 for questions and conversation. Free food and drinks are provided, 21+ drinks are discounted. Join us as we learn more about how to talk about (and not to talk about) mental health in the context of faith, church, and theology.

This event is generously cosponsored by SJU Campus Ministry, Liturgical Press, Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary, CSB Campus Ministry, Collegeville Institute, and the Koch Chair for Catholic Thought and Culture.

Dr. Coblentz will also present the reflection at the School of Theology Midday Prayer (Sept 29 at 11:30am in Emmaus Chapel) and a Lunch discussion hosted by the Koch Chair (Sept 30 at Noon at CSB). Please check the Daily Bulletin for details or email [email protected].
