2021 Recipients

This award annually recognizes Saint John's students who are characterized by personal commitment to service, which promotes community, justice, and aim for the common good.  This award is also characterized by the thoughtful reflections on service in light of Catholic Social Teaching and/or the Benedictine values of Saint John's. Candidates are nominated by students, faculty, or staff of Saint John's University and the College of Saint Benedict. 

This Year's Recipients are:

Logan Edwards, Class of 2023

Logan is from Prior Lake, Minnesota and is a sophomore studying theology and psychology.  He has served on the SJUfaith’s prison ministry teams as well as participated in CSB Campus Ministry’s J-Walking group that speaks with men at St. Cloud’s Dream Center that helps men reenter society after incarceration. A captain of the SJU wrestling team, Logan leads a bible study with his teammates. He is also committed to interreligious dialogue on campus. Logan serves as a means of reciprocating the love he received when he came to campus and hopes that he is a witness to the strength of the CSB/SJU community.

Tyler Koll, Class of 2022

Tyler is from Cold Spring, Minnesota and is a junior studying psychology. He is involved in clubs and activities such as a fire captain of the Saint John's Fire department, Consent-Equality-Respect-Talking-Safety (CERTS), as well participating in volunteer opportunities with campus ministry and tutoring. Tyler finds service important because even little acts of kindness to another person can make a world of difference. 

Kriston Clarke, Class of 2021

Kriston is from Nassau, Bahamas, and is a senior studying biology. For Kriston, service is best defined as the selfless voluntary commitment of an individual to freely give their time in aid of a cause or social interest. Kriston's involvement in several volunteer opportunities have aided in his maturing into the individual he is today. Service is important to Kriston because it provides a positive impact on community and builds favorable character. Throughout his time at Saint John's University Kriston has been a Residential Assistant with Saint John's Residential Life and Housing, campus ministry, CSB/SJU Health and Counseling Services, the Saint John's Abbey Retirement Center, and the Saint John's Senate.
