Family Weekend Letter

Greetings from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University;

Fall is upon us and the academic year has already begun. As we begin classes we also celebrate some new happenings at CSB/SJU. Saint John's recently selected Michael Hemesath, Ph.D., former Carleton College economics professor, as the thirteenth president of the university. This coming May Saint Ben's is also commerating its centennial. With this year's Family Weekend we plan to continue our tradition of commitment to our students and their families.  It is our hope that you  will plan to join us for Family Weekend 2012 October 26-28. Students look forward to the opportunity to introduce their families to their extended ones here at CSB/SJU.

We encourage you to attend as many events as possible. You can begin on Friday by attending the family activity night which includes open gym by our new CSB/SJU club Johnball. Later that evening you can catch a performance from Attention Starved Children, our student improv group.

Saturday is the heart of our Family Weekend programming. Starting out the day will be the 5K Family Fun Run/Walk sponsored by CSB Campus Ministry. That afternoon enjoy a Johnnie football game, Blazer soccer game, campus tours, or family Mass. Be sure to stop by the ever popular Family Carnival where inflatabes, pumpkin carving and BINGO are available. Due to popular demand The Second City comedy group is set to perform in Escher Auditorium Saturday night. After some side splitting comedy by The Second City check out a student benefit concert. Don't forget to attend the SJU Chili Luncheon and the CSB Family Weekend dinner for meals.

We hope that you will take time out of your schedule to join us for this exciting, fun-filled weekend with your son or daughter. Tickets our available at our online store now. We will be ticketless again, so be sure to print and bring one copy per family of the email confirmation which will arrive within a few business days of registering.

Sincerely,

Faith Dammann
