All participants under 18 years of age need to have a legal guardian present and a signed waiver. Attention Starved Children, otherwise known as ASC, has been a comedy cornerstone at CSB and SJU for the past 10 years. This group of talented students perform improv comedy and love every minute of it. Following, Steven Brundage will delivers sophisticated, high quality magic and is especially known for his rubix cube tricks on America’s Got Talent. CSB and SJU Campus Ministries will be hosting the 15th Annual 5K Family Fun Run. This event is a great way to explore the Arboretum at Saint John's. The 5K Family Fun Run is sponsored by Alternative Break Experiences (ABE) and all money raised supports ABE programs as well as provides scholarships for students who wish to participate in these programs.
The cost is $25 for participants ages 15+ and $20 for individuals 14 and under, as well as CSB/SJU students, faculty, and staff. Each participant is guaranteed a 5K Family Fun Run T-shirt! Be sure to register at least a week in advance to ensure your shirt size. Participants that register at least a week in advance can pick their shirt up at the event. Otherwise, shirts will be placed in your CSB/SJU student’s campus address.
Pre-registration is recommended, but day of registration is taken at the Sugar Shack.

SALD & the CSB/SJU Sustainability Alliance is hosting a Saturday morning bike ride for Family Weekend. This 10 mile cycling ride will start at 10 AM. All participants will meet outside of Palaestra, SJU by the west doors before the start of the cycling ride. The Sustainability Alliance REQUIREs families/ participants to bring their own bike, a water bottle, and helmets.

St. John’s Abbey Church is at the heart of the St. John’s campus and community. Though strikingly modern even fifty years after its construction, it is planned according to the oldest principles of church architecture. The solar array at Saint John's is the first highly visible step in achieving carbon neutrality and demonstrates our commitment to the American College and Universities President's Climate Commitment and to the Benedictine Value of stewardship. Saint John's hopes this large scale project will pave the way for clean energy in Minnesota. Pearce Jensen will guide you through the solar array while giving background on the Saint John's project and provide some information on the use of solar power today.

The OSB tour includes two parts: The Sacred Spaces Tour and the Art & Heritage Tour.
The Sacred Spaces Tour includes the Gathering Place, Sacred Heart Chapel (shared by the Monastery and the College), Blessed Sacrament Chapel and the Oratory. All are in one building with elevator accessibility. If time permits we can view the first floor of the Monastery and Monastery Dining Room. 2014 was the 100 year anniversary of Sacred Heart Chapel, and the OSB would love to share with you the history and beauty of the Chapel.
The Art & Heritage Tour visits the current exhibit at the Haehn Museum entitled “A Lifetime Pursuit.” This exhibit highlights the work of Baulu Kuan, OSB, a retired professor of Art and Art History at CSB/SJU. The exhibit includes selections of painting, drawing, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, and sculpture work from four major archeological Sites: Mesosamerica, New Guinea, West Africa, and China/Tibet.
All families should meet in the Gathering Place of the Sacred Heart Chapel. To find the Gathering place, look for the green dome of the Sacred Heart Chapel and go up the front steps. The Gathering place is right inside the doors. Once at the Gathering Place, families will be divided into groups. Some groups will do the Art & Heritage tour first and other groups will do the Sacred Spaces tour. Each tour lasts 45 minutes.

Looking to hear a talented student musical group during Family Weekend? Look no further than Fine Arts Programming’s John McCutcheon with the CSB/SJU Orchestra. A master instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, storyteller, activist and author, John McCutcheon (SJU ‘74) is folk music’s renaissance man. With 36 recorded albums, John has earned six Grammy nominations for his eclectic catalog of American folk music. For this special performance, he’ll be collaborating with the CSB/SJU Orchestra for a show that blends generations and genres with a locally beloved artist. McCutcheon masters the art of a simple song told with literary craft, charming wit, and pure heart. Tickets are offered online at a special discounted price for Family Weekend participants. Adult tickets are just $18 and Youth/Student tickets are $15. This special pricing can be selected in Step 3 of the checkout process from the drop down list.
