2012 Students

Fifteen students from the College of Saint Benedict, St. Joseph, and Saint John's University, Collegeville, participated in summer internship experiences through the CSB/SJU Washington, D.C. Summer Study Program from the end of May to the beginning of August.

The program, operated by the political science department at CSB and SJU in conjunction with The Eugene J. McCarthy Center for Public Policy and Civic Engagement, is designed to provide students with an opportunity to live and work in the Washington, D.C. area while earning academic credit. Students serve in congressional offices, committee staffs, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, think tanks, or public affairs groups. They apply for internships based on their personal and academic interests.

In addition to the work experience, program co-directors Matt Lindstrom, professor of political science at CSB and SJU, and Christi Siver, assistant professor of political science at CSB and SJU, conducted seminars and arranged supplemental meetings with alumnae/i and other professionals to enhance the learning experience.
