Sample Academic 4-year Plans
The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University offer a 4-year physics program designed to prepare students for graduate school or industrial employment in either physics or physics-related fields such as engineering. Supplementary half-semester courses in such topics as astrophysics, optics and nuclear physics complete a solid preparation in classical and modern physics. Laboratory courses emphasize independent work, and students can choose from a wide variety of experimental projects.
An optional applied physics concentration within the physics major enables students to focus on such topics as electronics, solid state physics, and optics, and places less emphasis on advanced theoretical courses. This option is most appropriate for students who plan to seek employment in industry immediately upon graduation, or to pursue a career in engineering.
Physics sample 4-year plans:
- Major, Minor
- Applied Physics, Major Concentration (for students who started in Fall 2020 or 2021)
- Engineering Physics, Major Concentration (for students starting 2022 or later)
