Winter Break Photo Gallery

From documentary film production in Rwanda to chicken coop construction in Haiti, Bennies and Johnnies found plenty of unique ways to keep busy during winter break. Here are just a few highlights:

Extending the Link

The Extending the Link (ETL) team traveled to Rwanda over winter break to film for its upcoming documentary that will share stories of women in agriculture. ETL is a student-run, non-profit structured documentary film company.

Square One

Representatives from Square One, a student-run non-profit designed to create lasting micro-business ventures in developing countries, visited Haiti over break. The group returned to the orphanage where, in 2015 the organization built a chicken coop to offer the community a sustainable source of food and income. Square One returned after learning costs to maintain chickens were getting unsustainable for the community. Students worked to offer alternatives to expensive chicken feed for the community.

Alternative Break Experiences: New Orleans

Bennies and Johnnies on an Alternative Break Experiences (ABE) trip traveled to New Orleans to work with United Saints, a non-profit working to restore homes and communities affected by natural disasters. The ABE program connects students to meaningful, service-oriented trips. Groups also traveled to Chimbote, Peru, San Francisco and Detroit during the break.
