Jeana Koenig was recognized as the 2014 Fr. Vincent Tegeder, OSB, Outstanding Administrator Award winner at the Order of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University administrative recognition luncheon May 21 at 264 Quadrangle Building, SJU.

The award is given annually to an administrator whose work exemplifies service and excellence within the Saint John's administrative community - someone who embodies the spirit of Saint John's, provides quality service and positively impacts the Saint John's community. The award, which has been presented since 1992, was renamed in honor of Tegeder, former chair of the history department and University/Abbey archivist, who passed away in April 2007.

Koenig, student accounts director at SJU, has spent her entire professional career at Saint John's. Abbot John Klassen, who presented the award, noted that Koenig first applied at the Liturgical Press, but was rejected. Her application was passed on the Saint John's student accounts office, but Koenig wasn't sure she would have fun in the office.

"She brought the fun back to the office," Klassen said.

Klassen said Koenig is a hard-working, self-motivated person who has made a huge influence in many people's lives. She handles difficulties with parents with ease, and has managed through several technological shifts. Koenig has also volunteered many hours at Saint John's Abbey Arboretum.

Also nominated for the award were Bill Boom, physical plant; Jane Moening, SJU business office; Fr. Doug Mullin, OSB, student development; and Matt Reichert, Saint John's Prep School.
