CSB and SJU Symphony Orchestra to perform six concerts in four states

The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University Symphony Orchestra will present six concerts during a four-state tour Jan. 6-12.

The orchestra, conducted by J. David Arnott, associate professor of music at CSB and SJU, includes 59 CSB and SJU students. The tour includes performances in Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas.

Among the pieces to be performed include the "Overture to William Tell" by Gioachino Rossini; the overture and three dances from "The Bartered Bride" by Bedrich Smetana; the waltz and polonaise from "Eugene Onegin" by Peter Tchaikovsky; and the overture to "Der Frieschütz" by Carl Maria von Weber.

The schedule includes:

• Sunday, Jan. 6, 7 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Hiawatha, Iowa;

• Monday, Jan. 7, 7:30 p.m. at The Temple for Preforming Arts' Grand Hall in Des Moines, Iowa;

• Tuesday, Jan. 8, 7:30 p.m. at St. John's Parish Church on the campus of Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.;

• Wednesday, Jan. 9, 7:30 p.m. (MST) at Our Lady of Loreto Parish's Holy Family Hall in Foxfield, Colo.;

• Friday, Jan. 11, 7:30 p.m. (MST) at Warren Station Center for the Performing Arts in Keystone, Colo.;

• Saturday, Jan. 12, 8 p.m. at the Church of the Nativity in Leawood, Kan.

Admission is free to the performances, although freewill donations will be accepted.
