The College of Saint Benedict is in the process of reconstructing its north entrance just off Minnesota Street.
"Our 2006-07 Campus Master Plan identified a need to make the north entrance as recognizable as our main entrance," executive director of facilities for CSB, Brad Sinn said.
The most visible change has been the removal of three homes which the college purchased — over a number of years — with this project in mind.
The 2014 Landscape Master Plan echoed the need for a more visible entrance and this is the first project CSB has undertaken as part of this plan.
"The new north entrance is also our first project that highlights a more sustainable landscape with lower maintenance native plant materials, use of local materials and permeable paving surfaces to reduce runoff," Sinn said.
The north entrance will reopen on Saturday, August 16. Major construction work will be completed prior to the start of the school year with landscaping work scheduled for early September when the cooler weather allows for more successful plantings.
