Boston College moral theology professor to present at CSB

Lisa Cahill, Donald J. Monan Professor of Moral Theology at Boston College, will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 in room 204A/B, Gorecki Dining and Conference Center, College of Saint Benedict. Her presentation is entitled "Gender and Catholic Social Thought: New Conversation Partners."

In addition to the presentation, Cahill will continue a discussion she started with College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University gender studies faculty when she previously visited CSB in November 2011. They are exploring how the tradition of Catholic social thought can be incorporated into their work in gender studies.

Cahill received her doctoral degree from the University of Chicago and her bachelor of arts degree from Santa Clara University, Calif. She has taught at Boston College since 1976 and has been a visiting professor at Yale and Georgetown universities.

She has received numerous awards, including fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Alumna of the Year from the University of Chicago Divinity School. She has also previously served as the president of the Catholic Theological Society of America and the president of the Society of Christian Ethics. Cahill is currently serving on the steering committee of the Catholic Common Ground Initiative.
