CSB Tree Lighting

Four students get into the holiday spirit during the 2017 tree lighting ceremony at CSB.

You know the Christmas season is here when the air turns colder, the snow starts flying … and the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies are held at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.

Saint John’s holds its tree lighting ceremony at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the Great Hall. CSB holds its “Christmas at Saint Ben’s” tree lighting ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, on the Mall area near Clemens Library.

Both events are free and open to the public.

The Saint John’s ceremony includes Br. David-Paul Lange, OSB, leading the participants in Christmas carols. Father Robert Koopmann, OSB, president emeritus of SJU, will also be performing on the piano. Refreshments will be served.

The Saint Ben’s ceremony, with the theme “So Let Your Light Shine,” begins with caroling at 5:30 p.m. led by the CSB Women’s Choir. At 5:45 p.m., the lighting ceremony will begin as CSB President Mary Dana Hinton and Saint Ben’s Senate President Wendy Iteghete, a senior accounting major from Minneapolis, will light the tree. Refreshments will also be served.
