Asian papermaking workshops will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Welle Book Arts Studio (Room 062) in the Benedicta Arts Center of the College of Saint Benedict (CSB).

The workshops will allow participants to explore the basics of the ancient art of Asian hand papermaking and make their own samples to take home. Jana Pullman, book artist, binder and conservator, will be leading the workshops. She received her graduate training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Iowa. She is currently an adjunct faculty member in the art department at the University of Minnesota, an instructor at the Minnesota Center for Books and teaches workshops across the country.

These workshops are sponsored by the Literary Arts Institute, a unique organization founded in 1997 by CSB to foster creative writing, publishing and interaction between students and writers.

The events are  free and open to the public. There are openings available in the Saturday, Nov. 12 workshop. The Sunday, Nov. 13 workshop is filled and has a waiting list. Preregistration is required. Contact Scott Murphy at [email protected].
