students moving inBlood, sweat and tears will all be present on Thursday, Aug. 23, for first-year students at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University and their parents.

No, not the 1970s rock band.

Move-in day is scheduled that day for first-year students at CSB and SJU. With it comes tears, a bit of sweat and — hopefully — very little blood shed.

Students will be assigned a move-in time based on their housing assignments. The first time slot is from 8-11 a.m., and the second from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Participants are asked to move in only during their assigned period, which will expedite the process.

First-year and transfer orientation runs from Aug. 23 to Sunday, Aug. 26. The goal of orientation is to help incoming students transition to college and introduce them to academic and campus life on the CSB and SJU campuses.

All students returning to CSB and SJU for their sophomore, junior or senior year, are asked to move-in on Saturday, August 25 or Sunday, August 26.

Classes then begin Monday, Aug. 27. The day begins with convocation ceremonies at 9 a.m. at Escher Auditorium at CSB, or 9 a.m. at the Abbey and University Church at SJU. A condensed class schedule begins at 10:15 a.m. at SJU and 10:35 a.m. at CSB.
