Biography

Jimin Lee is a distinguished soprano, currently completing her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Voice Performance at the University of Minnesota. With a profound passion for the intricacies of operatic roles, her dissertation focuses on dissecting the soprano fach system through an in-depth analysis of Donna Anna and Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, utilizing the advanced technology of Voce Vista to enhance her research. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s degree from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea.

Jimin has an extensive performance resume, taking on prominent roles in operas such as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, the Governess in The Turn of the Screw, and Blanche in Dialogue des Carmélites. She also portrayed Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro, and multiple roles in university and professional settings across the United States and South Korea. Her proficiency spans classical opera and includes significant recitals and concerts across various venues. Jimin has participated in numerous masterclasses with esteemed artists like Margo Garrett and Yves Abel, enhancing her skills and expertise in vocal performance.

In addition to her performing career, Jimin is dedicated to education and mentorship, teaching voice at several institutions and privately. Her experience includes working at Seongmo Women’s High School and teaching privately, among other engagements. She also contributes to musical ministries, serving as a soloist at St. Andrew Kim Catholic Church in Minneapolis.

Jimin’s accolades include awards from the Schubert Club Scholarship Competition and the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra, recognizing her excellence in voice performance. She continues to engage in community outreach through music, fostering a love for classical and contemporary vocal arts among students and audiences alike.
