Dr. Andrew Towsey-Grishaw will present research on the lives and work of Carlos Antonio de Padua Chávez and José Pablo Moncayo, two of the foremost classical music composers from Mexico during the first half of the 20th century. Of particular focus will be two musical selections, “Sonata para viola y piano” by Moncayo & “Madrigal para Viola y Piano” by Chávez. The presentation will feature performances in collaboration with Dr. Amy Grinsteiner. The event is scheduled for January 31, 2024 at 5 p.m. in the Great Hall (SJU).
