HyeYoun Jang is the Music Director of the Orchestra (Adjunct Assistant Professor) at The College of Saint Benedict/St. John’s University. She has served as Conductor of the Dubuque Symphony Youth Orchestra, Assistant Conductor of the North Texas Symphony Orchestra, and Assistant Conductor of the University of Iowa Orchestra and the Opera Production, Apprentice Conductor of Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, and Conductor of NOVA Contemporary Ensemble at the University of North Texas.
She has been privileged to actively participate in valuable workshops and festivals including the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Gyeong-Gi Philharmonic Orchestra (South Korea), the Chun-Cheon City Philharmonic Orchestra (South Korea), and the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music. In 2019, she was the winner of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic International Workshop.
Born in Busan, South Korea, Ms. Jang began her music studies through learning violin and piano. She studied composition and received both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Music Composition at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea. Also, she earned a Master’s degree in orchestral conducting at the University of Iowa. She has completed DMA in orchestra conducting at the University of North Texas.
