Opera Workshop

The CSB|SJU Opera Workshop provides an opportunity for students to give in-depth study, practice, and presentation of classical and contemporary works of opera and musical theater. The group regularly stages full operas as well as revues and excerpts from a variety of stage works. Participation is by audition only and requires the consent of the directors, Dr. Carolyn Finley and Tom Speckhard. Interested students should register for MUSC 358 for 0-2 credits.

The CSB/SJU opera workshop will be featuring a musical revue for this year's annual production.  All scenes represented were composed from the year 2000 to the present.  Shows to be included are "The Addams Family", "The Book of Mormon", "Bullets over Broadway", "War Paint", "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder", "Jersey Boys", "Spring Awakening", "Waitress", "Hamilton", "The Greatest Showman", "13 The Musical", "Dear Evan Hansen", "The Great Comet of 1812" and "The In-Between Musical."    28 singers, three pianists, a drummer and saxophonist, plus an aerialist will be performing on the Black Box Theater stage in the BAC, Thursday and Friday, 11/8th  & 9th at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 11/10th & 11/11th at 2:00 p.m.   The themes represented include betrayal, building trust, competition with rivals, surviving stardom, coming of age issues, the power of the internet community, and all facets of experiencing love.  This FAE event will run about one hour and fifteen minutes.   Donations of $2.00 are encouraged.
