About the Presenters

Ann Hubbard Biography

Ann Hubbard is the vice president, college division with the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) where she is responsible for institutional relations for customized programs and academic assessment. Having worked in the International Education Center at the University of St. Thomas for 20 years, she advised hundreds of students as they prepared to go abroad and return home.  Ann has conducted intercultural training, taught an honors seminar and developed a workshop series for students to reflect on their development from studying abroad.  Ann's intercultural journey began on a high school program to France.   She spent her junior year in France while an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota and completed a Master's Arts focusing on Intercultural Communication at California State University, Northridge.

Darren Kaltved Biography

With more than 12 years of higher education experience, 11 in the field of career development, Darren Kaltved currently serves as the Assistant Director for the School of Public Health Career Services Office at the University of Minnesota. Darren's areas of expertise include career counseling/coaching, job searching, networking, interviewing, personal branding, and social networking.  For the past 4 years Darren has participated as a presenter for the University of Minnesota's Learning Abroad Center: Marketing Your International Experience Workshop. In November of 2008, Darren participated in a curriculum integration site visit to Norway and Denmark focusing on educational abroad opportunities related to the health sciences. Darren is known for his strong passion and enthusiasm of working with all students, and loves playing a vital role in assisting students and with making their dreams become a reality. He is currently working on a book titled "Love at First Interview: How interviewing is like dating". Darren received a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and a Master of Education in Student Personnel Administration from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
