Sullivan Collection

Clemens Library at the College of Saint Benedict is home to this collection of religious icons from the estate of Mary Sullivan. Mary Sullivan focused her collecting activity on Orthodox icons but also acquired other religious artifacts. Works in the collection represent both Eastern and Western Christian understanding of the sacred image, as well as cross-pollinations and creative interpretations. The items in the collection have been gathered from Russia, the Ukraine, Greece, Crete, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Peru, El Salvador and the United States.
How do I access the collection?
The Sullivan collection is housed in the special collections area of Clemens Library. Researchers may request items for in-library use from the Library Help Desk, or by appointment.
