Teaching Assistantship Program in France
Work in France!
The Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) offers students the opportunity to work in France teaching English to French students of all ages. Many CSB/SJU French majors and minors have taken advantage of this opportunity the year following graduation. Learn more here or apply here.
Read about first-hand experiences of a lifetime from our own students.
There can be unexpected joys and discoveries as part of a TAPIF experience. Read about Kyla Porter '19 and her time in Gap, France last year.

I have had such a wonderful time working for the TAPIF Program! I met lots of great people from all over the world, and also learned so much about the French culture and way of life! The teachers I worked with were all fantastic and very supportive, and it was a great (and low-pressure!) introduction to being in charge of a classroom. I would highly recommend this program for anyone interested in teaching or just living in France for a while!
I had the opportunity to live and work abroad in St. Nazaire, France through the TAPIF program. This program is a great way for me to work but also have plenty time to travel around. St. Nazaire is a small, industrial city that can claim that it has the last ship-building harbor in France, and even builds the largest cruiseliners in the world! While in St Nazaire, I split my time between two middle schools teaching English, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the differences between American and French schools. It was great to visit more of the country and be immersed in local culture. I learned a lot, and I now feel like I have a second home abroad!
