Information Technology Services Overview
General Technology Resources
Access to Technology
- Computer access areas are located in Alcuin Library at SJU and the Clemens Library at CSB. Check the CSB/SJU library site for hours. The computer access areas are staffed at all times with well-trained and enthusiastic student workers who are available to assist students. Laser printers are available in each Center. Faculty, Staff, and Students also have the option to print to a lab printer wirelessly from a personal computer or mobile device.
- Printers are available in residence halls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- CSB/SJU has wireless access in every building on both campuses.
Software Tools for Teaching and Learning
- Information Technology Services provides access to network software applications. Software is accessible from residence hall rooms, computing access areas, computer labs, and learning spaces.
- Virtual computer lab software is available to access on student-owned devices from anywhere that students have Internet access.
- Faculty develop and deliver online course materials using the cloud-based Canvas Learning Management System. Canvas can be accessed from any computer, and via the Canvas apps for iOS and Android devices.
- CSB/SJU partners with Microsoft to provide you with email and file storage. You can access these web services from any computer from any web browser via an Internet connection.
Network Settings and Storage
- The same software is accessible from all networked PC or Mac regardless of their location.
- Faculty, Staff, and Students are given cloud storage to store personal documents.
Other Services
- The student technology fee entitles each student to have a network account, access to an e-mail account, file storage space, basic printing, support, wireless connection on-campus, IT Services training, and other services.
- Print management software helps manage the costs of printing on campus. Each student will have a $25.00 credit applied to their student printing account at the beginning of each semester. This credit is equivalent to 500 single-sided pages at $0.05 per page or approximately 830 double-sided pages at $0.06 per page. To facilitate conservation, the faculty are encouraged to allow submission of class papers online rather than on paper.
- Training workshops on many of our popular software applications are offered at no extra charge to students, faculty and staff. Workshops are scheduled to accommodate class schedules.
- Students requiring technical assistance with their personal devices can contact the IT Services Help Desk at 320-363-2228, email [email protected], or use the IT Services Self-Service Support Portal.
