3D Design & Printing in the Curriculum
3D design teaches students how to build 3D objects using a variety of software. If you're interested in incorporating 3D technology into your classroom, Instructional Technology staff can talk through your learning outcomes, student expectations and assignments using 3D design and/or printing. The partnership between Instructional Technology and Librarians means a 3D design or printing project can expose students to information literacy concepts while learning and engaging and rewarding technology.
3D DESIGN SESSIONS
Our design sessions typically consist of two class periods which are needed to introduce students to the software, walk them through the assignment, and allow lab time to gain hands-on experience.
3D PRINTING SESSIONS
Our design sessions consist of one class period in the Maker Lab. This will show students the 3D printers, explain how they work, how to slice a design for printing, the materials used, and how to fix design problems. If you'd simply like your students to have a 3D printed object for use in class, the instructor can work directly with an instructional technology specialist. Our staff can receive 3D models submitted via the “Schedule Appointment” button found on this page and can print them on behalf of designers.
