Place of peace on campus:

The Mall

I'm most authentically myself when I'm....

Around my friends

Quick Bio:

I grew up in Saint Paul and graduated from Humboldt High School. I enjoy playing basketball and volleyball, going to lakes, watching movies, and just hanging out with friends. My favorite place at CSB/SJU is either Sexton or the mall (in the spring/summer). One day I hope to work in a crime lab as a forensic biologist.

Campus Involvement:

Black Student Association, Intercultural Lead, Global Health Affairs, Intramural Basketball

What does the phrase "intercultural competency" mean to you?

"Intercultural competency" means being comfortable with and being able to understand your own culture as well as others, and being willing to learn about them.

About which aspect(s) of diversity are you most passionate?

The interracial inequalities and social injustices that remain in this country today.

What advice would you like to give to first-year students?

I would tell first-year students to just take it one day at a time. There is no use in stressing over things that you can no longer change or do not have the power to change. Also, I would advise them to get as involved as possible. Try not to spend too much time in your dorm and try not to have just one group of friends. Branch out and get to know different people, it will make your college experience much more memorable.

What advice would you like to give to continuing students?

Continue to work hard in classes and try to be a leader of some type on campus. Make a name for yourself within the institution because when you graduate there will be many more opportunities available.
