Goals and Objectives

Goal 1

Students will create, collaborate, and communicate effectively in Spanish.

Objective 1.a: Students will locate, comprehend, and use a variety of Spanish-language texts and discourse for their independent research or creative projects.

Objective 1.b: Students will effectively present their research and creativity in written and oral Spanish.

Objective 1.c: Students will collaborate with others in Spanish to solve problems, negotiate, and create meaning.

Goal 2

Students will engage globally and develop skills for cultural agility.

Objective 2.a: Students will analyze gender, race, class, and ethnicity as factors that shape relationships of power in the Hispanic/Latino communities. 

Objective 2.b: Students will articulate an awareness of their own cultural identities in relationship to an understanding of the cultures of Hispanic/Latino communities.   

Objective 2.c: Students will identity/formulate and apply or analyze strategies for adapting and engaging effectively and appropriately to intercultural situations.  

Goal 3

Students will analyze and evaluate the language, literature, and cultures of Hispanic/Latino communities. 

Objective 3.a: Students will exercise initiative by analyzing and evaluating Spanish-language texts for their own independent research or creative projects.  

Objective 3.b: Students will analyze and evaluate Spanish-language texts for meaning. 

Objective 3.c: Students will make connections between different Spanish-language texts and multiple disciplinary perspectives.

Goal 4

Students will flexibly apply Spanish skills to a variety of contexts to support personal and professional success.

Objective 4.a: Students will apply Spanish language learning to contexts that extend beyond the conventional language classroom.

Objective 4.b: Students will author a public presentation or scholarly or creative work in Spanish.
