Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

Studying abroad was an aspiration I’ve had ever since coming to CSB+SJU as I felt it would be a great opportunity to see the world and mature as a person. London made the most sense for me as it had always been on my bucket list of places to visit someday. On top of that, the internship placement and no language barrier were big selling points.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.

I really enjoyed the public transportation system in London with the subway and buses. It was very simple and gave us the chance to immerse ourselves in the culture and what the day-to-day life was like.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

I’d advocate for anyone to study abroad if given the opportunity, whether it be short term or for a semester. It’s such an amazing experience to be able to see the world and grow individually. One of my favorite things was that all of our classes focused on London’s history and culture, so we got to learn more in depth about the area as the semester was going on. Lastly, being abroad brought me an amazing group of people whom I consider to be friends for life!

What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Pay attention at your program meetings! There are a lot of little things that you need to pack that could go over your head if you aren’t paying attention. More importantly, enjoy the experience. You’ll never get an opportunity like this again in your life and your main focus should be taking it in with open arms. Having this mentality myself, I felt I was able to get the most out of my experience by being open to anything. It will be the best time of your life!
