Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?
I choose to study abroad because I wanted to travel, expand my cultural knowledge, get out of my comfort zone, and learn more about myself. I decided to go to France because there was a psychology department, and I was excited to receive a French learning lens on psychology. I also wanted to make new connections and challenge myself to learn a new language.
Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.
One cultural experience from my program that made a lasting impression was building a connection with my host family, being welcomed into their culture, and getting to know more about their culture.
Describe your overall study abroad experience.
My overall study experience was memorable. I was able to learn a lot about myself through this experience. I met great people along the way and tried new things! I also got to travel around France and to nearby countries. I had unforgettable experiences abroad.
Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
Some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad would be fully immersing yourself in a culture, as well as traveling around the country and nearby countries, being able to travel with friends and have new adventures!
What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?
My advice would be to really consider your different study abroad options. But, also explore options that allow you to get out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself in the best way possible because it will only help you grow.
