Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I always wanted to study abroad and have an adventure that not everyone else has! The Argentina program seemed like a great way to practice my Spanish, meet new people, and go on some of those incredible adventures. Buenos Aires itself seemed like a very unique place to study abroad, and I loved that we’d live with host families and volunteer in the community (as I really wanted to meet local people!).

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.

One of my Argentine friends invited me to an asado, which is like a big social barbeque. We had a blast meeting people from all over Argentina and the world, eating so much meat, and just having a great time! I loved being able to experience this super important tradition in Argentina with a whole group of new friends.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

Studying abroad helped me become more flexible and open-minded, discover new interests, and gave me so many amazing memories!

What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

I would say go for it!! How many times in your life are you going to be able to live in another country for so long? While in Argentina, I met some of my best friends and did amazing things I’d never imagined. Going abroad was one of the best decisions I ever made, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!
