Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I chose this program not specifically for where it was at first, I chose it because it was a dream of mine since I was younger that I was going to study abroad in college. However, after looking into the programs CSB+SJU offers, I realized the France program was the best fit for myself

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.

Being able to experience the French culture not only from the students I took classes with but also my host parents. I’ll never forget my host parents and their generosity and everything they taught me during my time in France.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

Overall, it was the best experience in my life. I loved being able to immerse myself in a new and different culture. Along with the insane amount of travel I did too!!

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

A benefit for myself was getting to learn about something that’s bigger than myself. Learning about a different culture and the world around me was something I’ve always wanted to do and being able to learn about someone else’s way of life that was different then what I knew was really inspirational. Also for myself, I learned that I want to continue living in France or Europe after graduating because of the amazing experience I had.

What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

My advice is that you should allow yourself to be open minded. From trying new foods to learning about a new culture, the best way to get the most out of your study abroad experience is to have that open mind so you can fully immerse yourself into this incredible experience.
