Program: Italy Semester

Major: Exercise and Health Sciences

Minor: Biology, Ancient Mediterranean Studies

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I had always been fascinated with mythologies and I took Latin to fulfill my language requirement so it just fell into place.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.

While studying abroad, I also got a chance to visit other countries. One of the places I went with a group of friends was Poland. There we saw Auschwitz and Birkenau and that was a very powerful experience.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

It was such an incredible experience that I believe everyone should go on. You meet great people, see amazing things and grow as a person as well.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

You find out how the world is so much bigger than you. You get to experience a different culture that you may not know much about and learn what it means to live in that country.
It definitely helped with communication skills because not everyone spoke English so I had to learn how to adapt and improvise at times.

What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Do it. You won't regret it.
