Program: Austria Fall Semester

Major: Accounting

Minor: German

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I choose to go abroad because during grade 12 of high school my aunt who I looked up to told me that her only regret is not taking advantage of studying abroad while she had the chance. So from then I made up my mind that if it was one thing I was going to do it was going to be studying abroad. I decided to go to Austria because my minor is German and I wanted to use this opportunity to strengthen my speaking and also submerge myself into the culture.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

During our second weekend we hiked up the Alps. I've never been much of an outdoor girl but this experience was like no other. The view alone was breathtaking and then just the sense of pride being able to say that "I did that." Stepping outside of my comfort zone got me a long way.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

My overall experience abroad was wonderful. Not perfect but surely close to it.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

I became more open-minded and independent.

What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Take advantage of the opportunity while you have it. It will change you for the better and you'll definitely see growth within yourself.
