Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

When I came to CSB, I knew I wanted to study abroad. I chose to study in London because there are so many things to do in the city, I also chose that program because of the internship. I wanted to expand my knowledge culturally and with London being so diverse, I knew it would be a great place to study.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

My Internship was located right next to Tower bridge and the Shard. I interned at Cancer care center and it was so interesting to see how their health care worked. I got extremely close with my coworkers at my internship and I would go out with them to lunch on the days that I was there. It was such a great experience to see how people work in the UK compared to the US. I gained a fantastic relationship with them and I am so thankful for that experience.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

My overall study abroad experience was such an incredible time. I went to 14 different countries and over that time I learned a lot about myself. I am so thankful for all my experiences. I met so many amazing people from all over the world and it gave me a better knowledge of the world.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

After doing both a semester abroad and a short term abroad, I would definitely recommend doing the semester abroad. You learn so much about the community and the culture. You aren’t just a tourist anymore. I got to take classes out of my major and this was the first time in college that I was able to do it.

What advice can you offer for CSB/SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

My biggest advice is to just do it. You will learn so much about yourself and the world. Find a program that interests you and just go for it! You won’t regret it!
