Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?
I chose to study abroad because I wanted to learn more about another culture and the language. I am always fascinated by the French culture and tradition. I also took French in high school that insured my choice to study abroad in France.
Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.
One cultural experiences that I had that made a lasting impressions were the two kisses on the cheeks. This experience made my experience easier to get out and explore the city I was living in. Everyone was so nice and lively. Although they may not know you, when you meet them, they kiss you on the cheek. Learning this shows the characters and culture of the French people.
Describe your overall study abroad experience.
My overall experience was a dream come true. Meeting new people from all over the world taught me to appreciate traveling. My experiences taught me that it is a small world and we need to coexist together.
Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
My experience benefited my future interests and personal life. I would like to go back to French to either work or study there after my undergraduate.
What advice can you offer for CSB/SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?
One advice i would give is to take the chance because it will change your life. One of the best experiences I had in my college career. Emerging one self in a different culture is rewarding and show more appreciation of other cultures.
