Program: London Fall/Spring Semester

Major: Global Business Leadership

Student Athlete: Track and Field

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I wanted to study in London because I had never lived in a city before, and the opportunity to live, work, and study in one of the most diverse and globalized cities on the planet was absolutely incredible.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

Exploring the many boroughs of London and seeing how different cultures have influenced architecture, food, and music throughout the city. Each neighborhood is like a miniature version of whatever country the residents are descendant from. A perfect example of this is Notting Hill.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

Overall my study abroad and internship experiences were like nothing I had ever imagined being able to do in my life. The cultures and the people I met made for an unforgettable experience.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

It definitely forces you to grow up a bit and develop skills you will need to survive after graduation. I feel much more prepared for what life has to offer after my time here at SJU comes to an end.

What advice can you offer for CSB/SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Don't pick a trip because you think it's "safe." Pick an abroad opportunity that will provide you with an experience you cannot get anywhere else. You will be uncomfortable no matter which program you choose at the beginning, so you may as well choose one that pushes you.
