Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I had heard about CSB/SJU study abroad programs freshman year and was immediately very interested. I learned a lot about the two countries when I was younger and had always had a desire to visit. When I learned I could have the opportunity to study abroad in these two amazing countries I knew that this was the program for me.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

A group of us were fortunate enough to partake in the Athens Marathon weekend. There were several of us who ran together throughout the trip which provided a great resource for meeting new people, seeing the city in a new way, and partaking in a very unique cultural experience.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time abroad. Seeing new cities, learning new languages, and understand new cultures all allowed me to learn more about myself and what change I wish to effect in the world.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

Studying abroad allows you to see the world, experience a new culture, and find new personal interests that can lead you down many new and exciting paths.

What advice can you offer for CSB/SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Make sure that you select the program that is right for you, write down what you want to get out of studying abroad, and research the country/countries to learn more about all the possibilities!
