Major: Accounting

Athlete: SJU Lacrosse

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I like the Roman-Greco program because it allowed me to see multiple countries in one trip and take 18 credits, which I needed for accounting.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.

I was fortunate enough to run the Athens marathon while abroad. During the last few miles, all of the runners were encouraging each other even though we didn't speak the same language. This taught me that humanity is not bound strictly by a language barrier. Even though we are all different, we experience this life together through our experiences.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

It was an unforgettable experience. I got to see 10 countries in 4 months, and I got to spend it with some great people.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

Study abroad definitely helps encourage people to try new things, so coming back I'm excited to do some things I haven't done before and continue to get to know new cultures. This will definitely help with my career in accounting because it will allow me to keep an open mind and challenge myself in multiple aspects of life.

What advice can you offer for CSB/SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Definitely do it. It's something you'll never have the opportunity to do again.
