Course & Program Information

For placements in Serbia, students must be a declared major in one of the following departments: Computer Science, Global Business Leadership, or Accounting/Finance. There are no major requirements for placements in Bosnia/Herzegovina.

Participants are required to take this internship for credit; CGE recommends that students pursue a 1 credit internship to fulfill the Experiential Learning requirement of the core curriculum (however only 1 credit is required to participate in the program). The Experience and Professional Development Office can assist with this process.

On this program, students will have the opportunity to intern at one of the many placement sites offered by the Balkans Summer Internships. Students will also be able to learn about the rich history of Bosnia/Herzegovina and Serbia and the roles they play  in the development of Southern Europe. In Bosnia/Herzegovina, students will be placed at a non-governmental or community-based organization in one of three locations: Sarajevo, Mostar, or Banja Luka. In the past, students have worked with organizations such as Nesto Vise and Foundation Mosaik. In each site, students are paired with a Balkan CSB/SJU alum as part of a mentorship program. In Belgrade, Serbia, students intern at HTEC Group, a Serbian-based technology company. Students are paired with a CSB/SJU alum and learn the vital role Serbia is playing in the development of technology in Southern Europe.
