Germany - Eichstätt

Study abroad on this one-of-a-kind exchange! Spend either spring semester or an entire academic year fully immersed as a student at the Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU). Perfect your German language skills as you take all courses in German. Live in the quaint Bavarian town of Eichstätt, Germany (population 14,000). Eichstätt is a university town, filled with baroque architecture and surrounded by the Altmuhltal National Park, the largest park in Germany. In addition, you are close to some of the most historic, cultural, and scenic areas of Germany. Munich is an easy 1.5 hour train ride away! This is an independent program - you have to the freedom to create your own adventure!

Academics

On this program, you directly enroll at KU for either spring semester or the academic year. This program affords you an opportunity to choose from courses that meet Integrations Curriculum or major-specific requirements across the entire KU curriculum. All courses are taught in German by faculty from KU, with the exception of SA 386 - Global Reflections.

Students on this program have many opportunities to get involved on and off campus. University sports, choir, band and orchestra, and a variety of other student clubs and organizations are open to you! In addition, we encourage you to participate in the "Tandem-Program", a language exchange where you can improve your German with a language partner who wants to practice his or her English.

Accommodations

Housing is arranged for program participants by the Center for Global Education (CGE). Students on this program live in furnished student apartments with other international students. The apartments are within walking distance of the University. You will have access to shared kitchen facilities in your apartment to prepare your own meals, or you can join your peers in the student mensa (cafeteria) on campus. At the University, you will also have access to libraries, a fitness center, and wireless internet.

Financial Considerations

During a semester abroad, CSB+SJU students pay the same tuition as if on campus. Instead of paying CSB+SJU Housing and Meal Plan, all students studying abroad pay an Education Abroad Program Fee. Find Program Fee information on the CSBSJU-Global Portal.  

Students should plan early for a successful study abroad experience. Financial aidand scholarships may be available to help with program costs, but must be searched out well in advance.
